Zakk Wylde and 2 of His Mighty Quotes that Will Last You A Lifetime

It’s Zakk Wylde Time… I wanna share with you 2 quotes of his that I think will do wonders for your guitar playing and practicing sessions. Now heres a guitar beast if there ever was one. And he uses fundamentals every morning. The basics. He is a Guitar Titan that has taken over the music industry in the Heavy Rock arena and made things go HIS way. From Ozzy Osbourne’s guitarist at 19 years old to Black Label Society (His own band) to his latest releases as a solo artist. This guy has some Savage Guitar Practicing Wisdom that will hit you like a ton of bricks.   You’ve probably seen them somewhere or read them before but they’re worth mentioning a thousand times. Its timeless yet priceless advice. Sort of like practicing guitar…you have to repeat things until they’re engrained in the space between you’re ears.   Here’s Numero Uno: “When I first started playing, I’d practice every chance I could. I’d get home from school at about 2:30 in the afternoon and practice until dinner time. Then I’d stop, grab something to eat and go back up to my room and jam until about 11 o’clock or midnight. There was a period when I was putting in something like nine or 10 hours a day! Nowadays, I can’t always do that because I’ve got shit to do, whether...

How to Be A Badass Rhythm Guitar Player In a Few Minutes A Day

How to Be A Badass Rhythm Guitar Player In a Few Minutes A Day So you want to be a badass rhythm player. What does a badass rhythm guitar player know? What does he do? What does he do with what he knows? This is key. These are questions you should ask yourself every time you go and practice rhythm. So what does the rhythm guitar player actually do? He plays the chords mostly, sometimes riffs, sometimes grooves. What do they know? Lots of rhythm players dont know JACK SHIT. But as Phil Anselmo says: “Yesterday Don’t Mean Jack Shit.” So forget the fact that you don’t know much and do something about it today. They play with their ears and although they may sound good when I ask them what they are playing in terms of theory. They always reply  with: “I don’t know. I just came up with this thing.” I cringe at this response. Because if you dont know what you’re doing then how can you progress and make your rhythm ideas into complete song ideas. Anyways… Here are some things that make a really good rhythm player. But before all the tips theres one main thing you should know that puts rhythm players at the top. THEY PLAY TIGHT.  Tips: Use a Metronome. Turn the TV off. Start with A SINGLE NOTE. With this single note...

Rekindle Your Fire

How to Rekindle your Fire when YOUR Flames become mere embers Here are some things to consider. Get Mad! Yes get mad, in a healthy way. I don’t mean for you to start throwing things around. I mean get up and start taking action. Sometimes it’s a depressed state of mind that has us thinking that we can’t play what we want, or that we aren’t good enough. It’s simply not true. The truth is we can play exactly what we want if we keep pushing forward. It won’t come easy. You’ve got to rekindle your fire. Getting angry in a healthy way, not in a destructive way can help you get past some of the stuff that’s been holding you back. Olympians are sometimes trained to get mad as a psychological technique to stand strong in the face of adversity, such as in the violent environment of competition. Football players get angry all the time. And so do rugby players. You can use anger in a healthy way and it can be highly effective. It’s really ok to get mad. Don’t overdo it or hurt anyone in the process and you’ll be ok. So get up, get mad, and try it again and again until you get it right. Pick up your guitar and start playing that thing. Crank it UP!   Listen to Your Favorite Music We can get lost...
